Berne proposed we develop a kind of ‘life script’ that dictates how we unconsciously react to situations when we encounter them. Script can be seen as a well defined course of action that we decide on as a child. The theory states that we experience the world and make decisions about how we need to be in order to survive in it. We can carry on with decisions throughout our life even though we made them at an early age.
